The United Provinces are an exception to this rule as they have access to their full roster even while under a Republic's rule. Instead, Republican Guard can be trained. Guards inspire all units near them, giving them better morale. Most guards (including these particular units) may only be recruited by an Absolute Monarchy or a Constitutional Monarchy, and are automatically disbanded if a Republic is declared. Holland Guards are the Dutch equivalent of regular Guards, and possess largely the same capabilities with marginally better melee and charging characteristics.
